The space

Your mountain vacation awaits! Explore the outdoors from this cozy enclave on Tahoe's West Shore, CA. With easy access, the cabin is just a short walk to Lake Tahoe and Sunnyside (restaurants, coffee house, boating options), and a short drive to Tahoe City. In winter enjoy skiing and riding at Palisades Tahoe (Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows), Homewood and Northstar ski resorts, just a short drive away. And Lake Tahoe... so much to do, so little time! The chalet has one bedroom up steep loft stairs. The bedroom is open to the downstairs. It features a Tempur-Pedic queen mattress, and a twin size daybed. There is a washer/dryer combo upstairs as well. This is a loft bedroom so clearance is marginal on the edges of the room, but high in the center. It's a serene escape... watch the snow fall or hear the birds chirp. The living room has a comfortable couch, lounging chair, large flat screen SMART TV, wi-fi, small table & chairs. It has a gas fireplace for some sweet ambiance and warmth. The kitchen is well equipped with all utensils, cooking ware, dishes, etc. There is a combo Keurig and traditional coffeemaker, blender, convection oven - all in this tiny space. The full sized refrigerator and freezer pack a big punch. The bathroom has a glass-door shower, vanity with stone sink, and is stocked with bath amenities (soap, shampoo & conditioner; as well as hair dryer) and plenty of towels. The outside space (seasonally) is equipped with Adirondack deck chairs, lounge chairs, small dining table, gas grill, and plenty of wooded area for exploring. The Chalet is just a short walk to several restaurants: Sunnyside Resort, West Shore Market, Spoon, Fire Sign, and Shadyside. In winter, take advantage of the Sherwood Shuttle (leaves from Sunnyside) to get up to the backside of Alpine/Palisades Tahoe in minutes. * The Chalet is NOT beachfront as Airbnb has indicated. 5 minutes to the lake, small pebbled beach. You have the entire chalet on a spacious wooded lot. There is a nice deck, and outside patio area with gas grill in summertime. The Chalet is accessed via door code. You must confirm bear deterrent instructions.

This tiny home, is tiny. Just 420 square feet, but packs a big punch when it comes to amenities. Full kitchen with large refrigerator, gas cooktop, convection oven, drawer dishwasher. Bath with vanity and spacious shower, and unlimited hot water. The stairs to the loft bedroom are steep. Not quite a ladder, but steep nonetheless. We suggest you leave large luggage downstairs. Children under 10 and service/esa animals are not allowed due to safety issues. WINTER: The chalet has driveway plow service that rotates through storms. The West Shore of Lake Tahoe gets a LOT of snow. Access is good, but be prepared for area roads with 4WD, AWD, or chains. The town plow may come through and add a berm in front of the driveway. There's a shovel on hand, be prepared to shovel a bit if the town & driveway plow do not coincide. You may also need to shovel the walkway. During big storms we'll be by sporadically to clear deck, roof & extend walkway. Cleaning fee: For cleaning, we ask that you tidy up and put trash in the bear bin, to discourage any curious bears from entering the house or rummaging in the trash. This is a residential area and we are committed to staying in line with the chill, quiet nature of the area. That being said, we welcome well seasoned guests over the age of 25 . The chalet is best suited for two adults, OR one adult + one child, over the age of 10 (due to the steep ladder/stairs; please use caution ). The Chalet is in the mountains and you may encounter various wildlife. Squirrels, raccoons, deer, coyotes, and bears roam the property. Don’t bother them, and they won’t bother you. Do not feed the wildlife. A fed bear is a dead bear. We do have a bear deterrent system (electric wires) to avoid bear break ins. You will need to review instructions prior to receiving lock code. You may encounter various insects both outside and inside the house. Spiders love to come indoors, and we try to minimize that, but sometimes they work their way inside. Wildfires are always a threat to the area. You may encounter smoke from regional fires. There are no refunds for smoky skies; only in the event of mandatory evacuation. Keep Tahoe safe, and do not use flames of any kind in the basin. We STRONGLY suggest Travel Insurance. Many cover weather related incidents including snow storms and air quality concerns due to regional wildfires (look for a CFAR policy). Try TravelGuard. We do NOT give refunds; your best bet is travel insurance as you never know what may come up (family illness, weather, etc.) *The Chalet is NOT beachfront as Airbnb has indicated. It is a 5 minutes walk to small pebbled beach at the lake.
